Wednesday (#3)

Watched this last night.  Like The Tree of Life, it really moved me.



I have a lot to say in connection with this, but need to mull over my thoughts/feelings a little.  This monologue has a lot to do with it though... Javier Bardem was beautiful in this role.

The school post... Audrey on her first day of kindergarten!

 

 

 

She is not too keen to be left at school and asks me when, like preschool, she will start having a day at home. :(

Even though technically she had only done the same number of days as her usual preschool week, I was missing her yesterday.   I may have even shed a tear or two myself.  However, I am really looking forward to seeing her really flourish this year.

And yesterday I picked a beaming Nicholas up from school.  he was very excited to see his friends and exclaimed that he had had a brilliant day and that he loved his teacher!  Which I am happy about because I am over the moon with who he got.

 

 

 



Letter to Nicholas

You are now 8 1/2 years old.  You are growing up so much and I am realising that there is a difference between being 5 and being 8!  I love that you explore your own interests, that you share information about the things you love.  We take joy in talking to you about those things and giving you the lead in the discussions.
Audrey was at nan's yesterday and you had to go to the dentist. You were scared, but very brave.  We did some shopping and you voluntarily held my hand as we walked through the shopping centre.  I loved that.
You start year 3 this year - I look forward to seeing you grow and develop.  xo

Wednesday

A long weekend in Adelaide.  (Albeit a little short!)  I could have easily done with an extra day or two.  For the first time in a long time David and I had the opportunity to walk at our own leisurely pace and have brunch or coffee without rushing or needing to be somewhere.  I missed Nicholas and Audrey, but enjoyed the time to just be.  Lovely morning muesli with berries, fruit and Greek yoghurt.  Savouring good coffee, instead of rushing any coffee.  We thought we were being picky on Saturday morning as we walked around looking for just the right café.  If I was going to have a morning for a relaxed brunch, I wanted t find the right one.  Somewhere that offered muesli, coffee and French toast.  We found it.  :)

 

 

Then it was off to wander the markets.  If I lived in Adelaide, I would be here every Saturday morning!  Unfortunately the heat will see that I never do live here.

A wedding on Saturday night (not as easy having to hold Maggie most of the time, although David did wonders in getting her to sleep during the entree and main meal!

On Sunday we were invited to the grooms parents house for brunch. We had coffee and churros before making our way to the Adelaide Hills.

Little did we know what awaited us.  An 1840's biscuit factory that had been converted to a house by previous owners, the groom's parents have lived here for 40 years.  Thankfully I wasn't the only guest who couldn't resist getting their iphone out for photographs!  Unfortunately I didn't get many photographs inside the house, but trust me, it was amazing!

Letter to Audrey

Your birthday was this week.  Six years old.  I looked through photographs of you, choosing a selection for a birthday poster of you.  So many memories, confirming that time moves so fast. 
Right now your independence is shining through.  I am learning to let you follow your own mind some more. 
In two weeks time I will be sending you off to school in a uniform.  Yes, I think I will cry a little.  "Happy crying" you call it.  But maybe just a couple of tears as I acknowledge the moment.  xo
