Sunday

I had a lovely day yesterday with some women - family and friends celebrating birth, and motherhood.  Each day I come closer to giving birth for the third time - a blessing I am looking forward to!

And it was good to be reminded of this clip, this morning.  I want the next little while, home, routines, children, to be to be intentionally focused on gratitude...

Sunday

Be warned, lots of photos here... Yesterday Audrey went to her cousin's 7th birthday party - a vintage tea party.  Right up my alley!  I think I was more excited than the birthday girl!  It contained everything - beautiful china tea cups, sugar cubes, fairy cakes, honey joys, fairy bread and cucumber sandwiches.  Dress ups, pearls and old fashioned games.  So much fun!

Friday

One more week at work.  Then three more weeks until my due date.  I feel so desperate for long nights of sleep (still living on six hours a night) and wonder if I went into labour anytime soon whether I would have any energy at all!

I'm looking forward to days without commitments and more times like this.

Tuesday

I love that David is spontaneous (in spite of the fact the organised, planned me at times stresses...).  He thinks of something fun to do and then does it.
Yesterday he took the kids ice skating and I met them all after work at Koko Black for hot chocolate, even if it is too rich for me - it is simply lovely to just be together.

Friday

Nicholas slept the night at his cousins house last night. He is growing up. When he came home he told me that from now on he is going to call me "mum". Oh? Why is that? I asked. "Because that is what all my friends say, and I want to do the same" he said. So no more "mama" from the child where it all began.  Then he stopped and said... "or what would you like me to call you?"  I didn't have the heart to say for me mama is endearing.  That he was the one who first called me that.  I want him to grow confident with the decisions he makes - even something like this.

I am so proud of the boy he is.  and now he is 8....

Wednesday

Well today I thought I needed to post about the countdown.  Counting down the weeks left at work, counting down the weeks before this baby joins our family... so much I think about in the moments before I go to sleep (ok, seconds).  That I really need to sort through boxes and piles of papers in our room, so that we have some floor space to put a bassinet.  The bags of clothes that need to be washed, and how I look forward to seeing them hanging on the line in preparation for that day.  The bassinet sheets to sew, what do I need to pack for the hospital?  I can't remember.  Must buy a nightie to wear!
But oh my, I just saw a clip for a movie that I must see.

When I had just finished university (and the world is your oyster) I loved the movie Before Sunrise.  The hubris of the young.  Then, years later came Before Sunset.  It quickly became my favourite.  I dreamt of Paris. Now to see a third!  There is something special about catching up with Jesse and Celine on one night of their lives every eight years or so.

Now high on my list of things is dinner with David and this movie! :)

Saturday

Public holidays, a Hungarian stew on the fire and more s'mores!

And I have fabric and baby quilts on the brain!

Only I am thinking soft colours and vintage florals. :)

On Thursday I met the student midwife who will accompany me to all my remaining antenatal appointments, and be present at the birth of this baby.  I am actually looking forward to giving birth.  I need to get a few things ready, but there are still 9 weeks and 3 days to go... ;)
